The Green Movement refers to all the grassroots protests against the result of Iran’s presidential election in 2009. A single definition of the Movement is practically impossible because of the differences in the objectives and ideas of those involved; however, in the last four years, the color green, initially representing Mir Hossein Mousavi’s campaign colour, became the symbol of hope and resistance for desired changes in Iran’s political affairs.

Greens’ Art is a comprehensive archive and online exhibition of artworks created and distributed during the pre- and post-election period in Iran (2009-2011). These exhibited works are just a part of the existing works. Along with all the works that have been created for this movement, this website curates works which are not specifically created for the purpose of support, but have been used by protesters and activists during the crisis in different ways. Besides entries for the works of professional and amateur artists and citizen journalists, related resources are presented for future researches.

What is art, after all, but a protest against the horrible inclemency of life?
