The Protest Around Ghoba Mosque in Tehran

After eventful days and continuation of arrests, following Mirhossein Mousavi’s appeal, around 5000 protesters gathered around Ghoba mosque. On this day, Taraneh Mosavi was arrested and later disappeared. After some weeks, it was revealed that she had reportedly died after being sexually abused while in custody. On 17th of July, her family was informed that “a burned corpse matching Taraneh’s description had been found in the desert between Karaj and Qazvin”. Despite this, the government's arrest of eight British Embassy employees (with 4 later being released) was another indicator of its readiness to intimidate the international community.
