The Demonstration from Haft-e-Tir Square to Revolution Square.

 About 500000 protesters demonstrated from Haft-e-Tir Sq. and Revolution Sq. on the 17th June 2009. Mirhossein Mousavi asked people to mourn for those who were killed and to sympathize with their families on the coming Thursday. Mehdi Karoubi, the other candidate, asked people to wear black in the Friday’s demonstration. Combatant Clergymen Association announced its’ request to the government for permission to demonstrate at the upcoming Saturday’s demonstration. Mohsen Rezaei, another candidate, asked the government again to announce the statistics of the election but the Interior Ministry rejected this. Mohamadreza Jalaeipour and Ebrahim Yazdi, were arrested on this date. In a common letter, Mirhoussein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi asked judiciary authorities not to violently treat the arrested people and (to) release them. A heavier censorship was then applied on newspapers and the Internet was filtered to the extreme.

During a football match between Iran and South Korea some of the national team players including Ali Karimi, Mehdi Mahdavikia, Hossein Kaabi, Vahid Hashemian, Javad Nekoonam and Masoud Shojaei chose to wear green bracelets in support of the protestors. A group of artists including Ezatolah Entezami, Darioush Mehrjouei and Mohsen Makhmalbaf signed and released a statement to support the people’s protest.
